ENCOURAGED TO WINTERIZE THEIR IRRIGATION SYSTEMS
• Field crews worked throughout the weekend to remove water in the 42-inch main on East Walled Lake Dr. From 14 Mile to Angle Road & on West Maple Road from Ladd Road to Beck Road
• Concrete pour continues this week while crews prepare for asphalt in the coming days
• GLWA continues to ask residents to limit water usage, but to use this time to winterize their irrigation systems
DETROIT – The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) continues its response to the 42-inch water transmission main break on 14 Mile Road, west of M5, that took place on Thursday,
September 25, 2025, impacting Commerce, Walled Lake, Wixom, and parts of Novi. Crews worked throughout the weekend to remove water in the 42-inch main on East Walled Lake Dr. From 14 Mile to Angle Road and on West Maple Road from Ladd Rd. to Beck Rd. Inspection of this portion of the pipe will begin tomorrow. Road restoration continued Saturday as the team backfilled different areas along 14 Mile Road to prepare for asphalt later this week or early next week. Concrete has already been set at the location of the new 36-inch valve on 14 Mile, west of Novi Road.
This week, field crews plan to complete backfill by Thursday and prepare for asphalt in the coming days. GLWA is working with the Road Commission of Oakland County (RCOC) to keep road restoration on track. GLWA and RCOC remain in communication with community partners regarding the traffic plan. Additional updates will be shared as information becomes available.
GLWA is still asking communities to limit water usage throughout this event, even after the boil water advisories have been lifted. Residents in the affected communities can use this time to
winterize their irrigation systems.
All affected communities have lifted their boil water advisories. GLWA has provided checklists for residents and businesses to follow after a boil water advisory has ended.
