On behalf of the entire Commerce Township Fire Department staff, thank you for your interest in our department. We are dedicated to providing the Commerce Township community with the best possible service, upholding our core values of integrity, honor, and pride.

Our department is a combination of 36 full-time firefighters plus 4 Administrative staff (including the Chief, Fire Marshal, Deputy Chief of Training, and Deputy Chief of EMS) and 12 part-time or paid-on-call firefighters. All of our firefighters are highly trained fire academy graduates, currently 22 are licensed Paramedics and the remainder are EMT’s.We conduct mandatory training at least twice a month across all areas of firefighting, rescue, and EMS.

The Township is served by four fire stations, housing four fire engines, Three Advanced Life Support transporting medical units, One Basic EMT transporting ambulance, one 3500-gallon tanker, one brush truck, one aerial ladder truck, and a rescue boat trailer. Each of our four stations is staffed by at least two career firefighters 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In 2024, the Commerce Township Fire Department responded to 4,381 emergency calls for service.

We host our annual Fire Department Open House on the first Sunday in October, from 10 am to 1 PM.

The Commerce Township Fire Department is always seeking new members living in the Commerce area to better serve our community. Application forms are available on our website. Candidates are required to live within one mile of the Township borders, have a high school diploma, be at least 18 years of age, possess a good driving record, and be physically fit. Our annual hiring process for part-time/paid-on-call firefighters is typically held in the summer, with fire academy classes usually in the fall.
