On Thursday, September 11, Teen Room Takeovers are returning to the library!
Unfamiliar with Teen Room Takeovers? Here's an in-depth look at the libraries offerings to teens on the second Thursday of almost every month during the school year 5-8pm in the Teen Room.
What's Available
We'll have a cart set up at the entrance of the teen room with a variety of coffee, as well as tea, hot chocolate, and water. Occasionally there will be other things such as juice and soda. We'll also have a variety healthy snacks (and some treats, too!) as well as mints to keep your mind sharp and alert while you study. A reference librarian will be available to you at the teen desk to assist with any questions you may have. You'll also have access to supplies like paperclips, sticky notes, note cards. Need something you don't see? Just ask!
Occasionally, we'll have special extras at our Teen Room Takeovers, but what we'll always have is Ruger the Therapy Dog (pictured below) visit us 6-7pm. Ruger will walk around the library and also visit the study rooms while he is here to provide you with some puppy power to get you through your studies.

Speaking of Study Rooms....
We have eight study rooms available at the CTCL all equipped with whiteboards - including two larger ones that are good for bigger groups of 4-6 people. Our study rooms are first come, first serve. To reserve a study room, you must be in the library and provide your name and number. Once you do this, you will be able to have the study room for two hours (you may be asked to move before then if a larger group comes in as they receive priority). If all the rooms are full, you may ask to be put on the waitlist. For more information on our study rooms, take a look at our study room policy which can be found here.
We also have study pods for individuals and groups of two!
Other Services Available to CTCL Studiers
The CTCL is also fortunate enough to have access to several databases that library users can access with a library card. All of the databases can be found here and here. Many of these databases can be helpful with essays, school projects, and general research. One of these databases, Brainfuse, has live tutoring help for many grade levels and subject matters. If any of the studiers want more information or help accessing these databases, feel free to ask any of our librarians!
If you'd ever like to see something specific at Teen Room Takeovers, or have any other teen program suggestions, please feel free to email Anjelica Lyman at alyman@commercelibrary.info
