Caveat 2020
Really "fun" and tense, from the director of the extremely good Oddity, a little lower down on the list. Classic "scenario movie" where you're just thinking about what you'd do the whole time.
In desperate need of money, Isaac accepts a job looking after his landlord's niece, Olga, for a few days. But there is a catch. He must wear a leather harness and chain that restricts his movements to certain rooms in order to protect Olga's extremely frail mental state. Once left alone with Isaac, Olga exhibits erratic behavior while Isaac makes horrific discoveries in the house that trigger a deeply buried, traumatic memory.
The First Omen 2024
I went in with low expectations and was blown away. I didn't think that an Omen prequel would be as nasty as this is! They really go there!

Kathryn Newton & Vince Vaughn are sooo good in this, absolutely hysterical performances.

A Knock at the Cabin 2023
Trap is one of my favorite movies this year, but don't overlook this apocalyptic Shyamalan thriller from last year.
Eric (Ben Aldridge) and Andrew (Jonathan Groff) embark on a relaxing family holiday in the wilderness with their young daughter, Wen (Kristen Cui). Yet their idyllic vision soon sours into a nightmare when the leader of an enigmatic extremist group, Leonard (Dave Bautista), takes the family hostage, claiming that the choices Eric and Andrew make can either avert or herald the coming apocalypse. Faced with an unthinkable choice, the couple struggles to survive and protect their daughter at all costs.
Malignant 2021
This movie is bonkers. Watch it without even reading the description or watching the trailer below, I implore you.
Madison Mitchell (Annabelle Wallis) is a woman with a troubled past and is frequently tormented by nightmares in which she has visions of gruesome murders. Her panic turns to downright fear when she understands that these horrors are actually real-life brutal killings executed by a terrifyingly evil figure, known as Gabriel.
Nope 2022
My personal favorite horror movie of the last decade. Absolutely incredible performances from the leads, Steven Yeun plays one of my favorite characters in the whole dang genre. It's a really beautiful movie about making movies.
OJ (Keke Palmer) and Emerald (Daniel Kaluuya) Haywood are in a remote gulch in California as the owners of a farm that specializes in training horses for Hollywood projects when a mysterious phenomenon suddenly begins to take over their airspace. It doesn’t take long for the residents of the lonely area to begin experiencing horrific disturbances, not only around them but also within them. As the threat continues to exercise control over the place, they make a chilling discovery.
Oddity 2024
Really spooky one from a couple months ago! It does a great job of setting up the scenario and then taking it in places you really wouldn't expect. Such a great last shot.
After Dani is brutally murdered, her blind occultist twin sister Darcy, goes after those responsible using inherited haunted items as her tools of revenge.
Prey 2023
This movie is god tier. I think I like it better than the original Predator, which is saying something. Amber Midthunder carries the whole thing herself. There's also a really cool Comanche language dub with all the actors reprising their roles.
The epic Predator legacy continues with this action-thriller set in the Comanche Nation. When Naru, a fierce and highly skilled young warrior, sets out to protect her people, the prey she stalks turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator leading to a vicious and terrifying showdown.
Seance 2021
Ok this one isn't like a 10/10 but I stan Simon Barrett so here it is.
Written and directed by Simon Barrett, this teen horror film follows Camille (Suki Waterhouse) as she transfers to a prestigious private school for girls known as Edelvine Academy. At first, she is bullied by a group of popular girls. However, she is later asked to join this group as they perform a séance to call upon a school ghost. Intrigued by this paranormal presence, Camille joins the session. Later, one of the girls soon ends up dead. Soon, the others who joined the séance also end up dead, leaving Camille to unearth the mystery before she ends up like the other girls.
Skinamarink 2023
Gorgeous lo-fi aesthetics and a heart breaking story make this one of my fall favorites.
Two children wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing, and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished.
Speak No Evil 2022
They just did one of those totally unnecessary American remakes of this with James Mcavoy. Stick with the Danish original (most of the movie is in English, don't worry subtitle haters) for a real bleak ending that will leave you feeling not-so-good!
While on holiday, a Danish couple becomes friends with a Dutch family. After enjoying their time together, they arrange for a visit to their home in Denmark. Things start off well, and both families find their chemistry right away. As the weekend goes on, the Danish family starts to notice that something is off with their new Dutch friends. As the houseguests begin to unravel, a friendly weekend turns into a dangerous game of survival.

Werewolves Within 2021
A goofy little horror comedy with Detroit native Sam Richardson. Not too scary but lots of fun.
A proposed gas pipeline divides the small town of Beaverfield. The day its residents meet up at the local inn, a severe snowstorm batters the area, effectively trapping everyone inside the establishment. As the tensions between the two opposing sides heighten, it is up to the newly arrived forest ranger Finn (Sam Richardson) and postal worker Cecily (Milana Vayntrub) to keep the peace and find out the person responsible for the appearance of a mysterious creature that has started terrorizing the community.
