Mr. Carton

This is the story of Mr. Carton, a clumsy and dreamy driver, who hits the road to achieve his greatest dream and see the ocean. But this long journey among steep roads, sprawling cities and insane traffic exposes him to many dangers...

Follow the adventures of this tiny and vulnerable hero in this handmade cardboard world.

Pipi, Pupu & Rosemary: the Mystery of the Stolen Notes

Someone has stolen all the notes from the musical score composed by Mapà for the Great Concert of Ferragosto (August 15th, the feast of the Assumption of Mary).

The Narrator, the inseparable and friendly voice which accompanies our three little adventurers Pipì, Pupù & Rosemary, has entrusted them with the delicate task of discovering the culprit behind this villainous theft and thus recover the music, without which the well-attended Concert of Ferragosto cannot be held. For THAT would be a major drama for the animals living in the forest!

Chaakapesh

The Montreal Symphony Orchestra and its famous conductor Kent Nagano tour Northern Quebec to visit Cree, Innu and Inuit communities. The performances showcase an indigenous chamber opera whose mission is to teach white men to laugh again and therefore love others more.

Chaakapesh the Trickster – written by Tomson Highway, composed by Matthew Ricketts and performed by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra – is the most evocative and modern example of intercultural collaboration.

Filipiñana

Winner of the Silver Bear Jury Prize for best short film at the 2020 Berlinale, Filipiñana quietly examines the golf course as a peculiar microcosm. While the men play golf, they’re followed around by women in uniform who carry their clubs. The women set up the tee, fish the balls out of the water hazards, and put them back into green wooden boxes, all under strict supervision by their boss. Isabel is one of these “tee girls”. Although she’s new and has yet to learn the rules, she’s already looking for loopholes to undermine this rigidly hierarchical system.

Intrusion

Philippe is a rising pianist. An obsessive and compulsive man, he works hard to prepare for a series of concerts at the Strasburg opera. His organized and neat world falls apart on the day of his 40th birthday. Violent fits of tinnitus and strange visions progressively impair his concentration. As a matter of fact, he is the only who hears false notes on his piano...

Philippe is no longer in control and slowly tumbles into another world. A world governed by his fears and his anguish, but most of all by a traumatic event that he has buried down deep for over 30 years, back when he was a little boy still...Is he really tipping over into another reality, or is he merely the victim of his paranoid delusions?

Heiko’s World

Heiko's mother Belinda suffers from keratoconus, a rare change in the cornea. She is gradually losing her sight and could soon go completely blind if she is not helped. Belinda's sight could be regained with the cornea of a deceased donor - but a transplant costs a lot of money, which is not covered by health insurance. For Heiko, this marks the beginning of an odyssey through Berlin's pub scene: in order to raise the money for his mother's operation, he takes on the best darts players in the city, at first reluctantly, but then with growing ambition, euro for euro. However, they have completely different plans and drag Heiko into a spiral of madness that he could never have imagined.

Taking Sides

Wilhelm Furtwängler (Stellan Skarsgard), arguably the most distinguished conductor of his generation, is forced to face the American Denazification Committee. Although he is acquitted of all charges, his name remains tainted by association. After Hitler took power in 1933, many Jewish artists were forced to leave Germany. Others went voluntarily into exile in protest. Furtwängler chose to stay. While helping to secure safe haven for many Jewish musicians, at the same time he served as one of the Nazi`s foremost cultural assets. The question of the artist’s political responsibility within a totalitarian regime remains open to this day – whether to stay and serve one’s own people or to leave the homeland.

My Name is Emily

On her 16th birthday, Emily and her new friend Arden set out to break her troubled biological father out of a psychiatric institution.

After her mother dies and her father is institutionalized, Emily is placed in a foster home and in a new school where she is ostracized. When her father’s annual card fails to arrive on her 16th birth-day, Emily knows something’s wrong. She decides to take matters into her own hands and, enlisting her only friend at school, Arden, sets off on a road trip to break her father out of the psych ward. As their journey progresses Emily and Arden become close, and both come to realize important truths about the nature of relationships, both to their parents and to each other.
