Commerce Township Planning Department

Planning is responsible for assisting citizens and developers with all aspects of their development needs. This includes reviewing all site plans, rezonings, special land uses, site condominium projects (residential, commercial and industrial), subdivision plats, planned unit developments, text amendments and variances. The Planning Department prepares all reviews and agendas for both the Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals as well as staff reviews to the Township Board as needed.

Planning is also responsible for administering and maintaining the Commerce Township Zoning Ordinance 3.000, the Master Plan, and the Official Zoning Map as well as producing an annual report, which outlines activities for the last year, goals for the upcoming year and status of various planning projects. All of these documents can be obtained through the Planning Department.
