The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced intermittent lane closures along M-5 starting Monday Nov. 9 to remove the blue wave panels from the non-motorized bridge over M-5.  The wave panels were not properly galvanized by their fabricator and are rusting, resulting in staining on the bridge’s white concrete fascia.  The contractors that constructed the bridge have accepted responsibility and are correcting the issue.  Lane closures are expected on the southbound side of M-5 on the week of Nov. 9, and the northbound side the week following.  Traffic will remain open on M-5 during these lane closures, which will be from 9am to 5pm each day.
